A hole in the wall in the truest sense. A hole in the wall = great authentic food.

This dominican food is right up there with my moms food. (I'm dominican (: ) $7 plates of good cooking you just can't beat that in midtown manhattan. I love this place so much that I had Mofongo cater our staff lunch. We ordered about 40 orders of stewed chicken, pernil (roasted pork), baked chicken and of course mofongo. My colleagues were just as impressed with this home cooking tasting lunch.

I was looking for a new place to grab lunch to take to my volunteer assignment around 11am. I found this place on yelp and it also listed decent combo prices comparable to my Cypress Hills neighborhood.  I found it and is a small locally owned place so I expected good food.

I ordered the 1/4 chicken combo that comes with choice of rice and choice of beans. I got yellow rice and black beans to go.

They filled a round aluminum take out container with yellow rice and decent sized 1/4 dark meat rotisserie chicken. The black beans were put into a coffee cup (8 oz) and it was filled almost to the top.

When I got to eat it, the chicken was tender tasty with crispy chicken skin. The beans were seasoned well and the rice was soft but not mushy.

The tostones are quite good. Almost brilliant in fact. Pity that it's drowning in SALT from the pernil. Good lord that thing was salty. My friend came in from chicago and insisted on coming here as she had a yen for Dominican. I said well let's go to Harlem or the Bronx but she found this place on yelp and we were nearby sooooooo.

To be fair, it does have a hole in the wall charm that matches the grade pending sign outside. The menu was good and the prices were good. It was all fine albeit a bit grimy feeling (again in a charming way) until we bit into the pork and both started gasping for water. Was this meat simply kept unrefrigerated for whatever reason and that's why it was so salty as they had to brine it?!? Questions. That being said, the beans, rice and tostones are awesome and I'd say check it out as it could have been an off day. I'd go back again to make sure it wasn't a one off so may update.

It's ok considering authentic Spanish food is hard to find in this area.

The price is reasonable, the pernil was tasty, the beans were not. They lacked season.

The staff is friendly , accommodating and personable. I can come again.

I was Excited to try this Latin Caribbean Spot!
I walked in (with NO Welcome, Hi, Hola, or Good Afternoon) and ordered Chivo Guisado aka Goat Stew. (Flavorful yet Thickly Sauced) The Beans stew needed more Flavor. There is no Restroom for Customers but they have Hand Sanitizer if needed... (I asked for a Wet Paper towel instead) The food was good but I was tired & wanted to finish it at home. I asked for a bag to go & Extra Napkins. The guy said to his female colleagues in Spanish that this guy is coming here for all the papers, I already gave him 1 sheet of Wet Paper Towel. I responded politely that my hands were Dirty, I just came from Work, & I was just Eating. His Eyes Opened Wider & he responded with an "Oh Shit". I continued on speaking in Spanish saying that I came here to Stuff myself & now I'm heading home. He gave me the Napkins & I said thank you.

    Pros
    1. Rice is well done.
    2. Chivo Guisado is flavorful and tender.

    Cons
    1. Better customer service (Everyone should feel Welcomed when entering the place)
    2. At 3:30pm the food should not look Unappetizing. Stir the Food, Add some Water, lmake it Presentable!
    3. If it's Quiet then Change the Garbage! Why the Garbage is Full to the top??
    4. No Restroom.
